All of us are more or less aware of the benefits of having breakfast…at least, in a vague sort of way. Health magazines go on and on about the pitfalls of skipping breakfast, dieticians warn you about slacking on the first meal of the day and experts are constantly dishing out quick recipes for those among us who are too hard pressed for time to cook up a complete breakfast.
There is very good reason why those who are experts in all things related to diet and nutrition lay so much emphasis on having a healthy breakfast. It reduces your desire to overeat during the day, reduces storage of fat in the body, and gives you enough energy to cope with the physical activities of the day. (more…)
Sitting back with a crunchy bowl of salad and congratulating yourself on a healthy choice you made? However, are you absolutely sure that what you are eating is 100% healthy and not filling you with empty, pointless calories?
There are plenty of salad ingredients and toppings that do absolutely nothing for you health-wise, for instance, the croutons you’ve ladled in generously, which by the way adds about 100 calories to your salad. When the going gets tough, the tough get going…going to the nearest grocery store to pick up their favorite snack food to binge on, or going into the kitchen to fix themselves something that will send them straight to comfort heaven.
It’s only natural for people to seek solace in their favorite food when times are tough and nothing seems to perk you up. However, once the dark days are over, depression is usually replaced by guilt for having allowed yourself silly indulgences that wreaked your diet and ruined your figure. (more…)

Since time immemorial, aphrodisiacs have always intrigued man. Foods that could make your lover weak in his knees; that could unlock the doors to uncontrollable passion; increase the libido and turn you into an insatiable sexual God…what man or woman could deny such tall claims? Whether these claims were true or simply a myth unsubstantiated by medical proof hardly seemed to matter to anyone. When you believe in something so desperately, faith makes even tall claims come to life. Heck, even if these foods did squat to make you feel romantic, they are incredibly healthy. And I think, that’s as good a reason as any to snack on them occasionally.
